Post subject: cross country bank needs to get a life
Cross country bank owes me money. I closed my credit card account and they refuse to pay me for 10 weeks because I cut my card up instead of sending it back to them. So for ten weeks MY money is being invested and they are making money off of it so that I have to wait. I have twins and a 6 year old daughter who need to eat and be diapered.
Deceptive Practices
I haven a credit card ballence with cross country Bank for$695.00 I have never opened and account nor would I need to order such a card,as I have perfect credit and even own my home outright. Now I am getting calls from a collection bureau, who upon calling saying the name is not even my correct name,or social, but it is on my credit report as delinquint.I checked and found out it was on my credit report as never been paid and written off.
Customer Service
I received a call on my personal cell phone number from Cross Country Bank stating that they were trying to reach Greg Smith and for him to call back regarding an urgent matter. I do not know a Greg Smith, so I figured someone dialed the wrong number, OR Greg Smith had given CCB a number to evade them. When I called CCB back to let them know that they had the wrong number, they verified that they did have MY cell number in the computer under his supposed work number. I asked them to remove the number so I wouldn't receive anymore calls. The rep (Mitchell) advised that he needed my name. I didn't want to give him that information since it is personal, and for all I knew, CCB wasn't even a real company. Maybe they were calling people and using the wrong number as a hook to obtain personal information. I didn't understand why they HAD to get my name in order to make the change in their computer. He became very rude and sarcastic. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and he said that I couldn't because I wasn't a cardmember. I have never called any company and been refused the chance to speak with a supervisor if I felt I needed to escalate the situation! He made several smart ***** remarks to me. I finally said I was going to hang up and call back and get someone different on the line. When I did that, I reached Sandy. She reaffirmed everything that Matthew had told me about needing my name and not letting me speak to a supervisor. I finally called a different number that I obtained from the CCB website, and got to Customer Service. Robert was much more helpful and said that he did remove my name from Greg Smith's list of phone numbers. He also stated that he would report Mitchell and appropriate action would be taken. I doubt that will actually happen, but I am going to write to the company. All in all, I had such hard time dealing with Cross Country Bank (especially Collections), that I would NEVER do any business with them, nor would recommend them to anyone I know! I
Deceptive Practices
I paid off with settlement on 2 accounts in 2002 and only one is being reported as paid off. Cross Country is telling me that I need to handle it with the agency who I settled the account with, and the settlement agency is telling me that I need to contact Cross Country. Deceptive Practices I contact Cross Country Bank to find out how did my account become over the limit. the represetitive that I spoke with started explaining this that and a whole bunch of crap as to the overage. I said that's impossible and I told her to close my account out. She state that the account would still have late payment fees add if the payment is late, over limit fees if the account is over the limit as well as linance charges. I said I'm not pay any late, overlimit or additional finance charges and I stated that I want the closed. The card was said to be designed to help people with bad credit ratings. That's a laugh in fact that's the catch they use your credit rating to get you in then Cross Courtry damage you even more.
Customer Service
My daughter is over in Iraq her billing is being sent to her home address where it is to be forwarded to my home but it is not because of something on the envelope according to the post office I called cross country and tried to have the address changed but was told that can not be done without my daughter contacting them which is impossible. I was told just to send the money without a statement which I will not do how can I get them to change there envelopes so it is forwarded to me or just send me a statement.
Deceptive Practices
I have tried to reach cross country bank because I had a credit card I only spent $250.00 but it show on my credit report as $700.00 I am tring to settle this acct but I had no contact number.
Employee Response
I am an employee for CCB(applied card systems)I just wanted to say to all of you complaing about late and o/l fees, they are all valid. When you signed the contract/cust agreement it clearly states that if you are late w/ your payments or you go over your established credit limit that you are subject to fees which is defined in the cust agreement, if you dont intend on paying the penalty fees dont neglect to make min monthly payments and do go o/l if so dont complain about fees that are valid.
And for the person expecting us to make a settlement on his acct because he wants to pay it off why should he get a break if he in fact caused the balance to get that high. For all of you who legitamatly charged up a ccb acct and dont intend on paying off I hope you have fun w/ terrible credit for 7-10 years after your 3rd party collection charge off.
Cross Country Bank and Applied Card Systems is a business that is fair and that states all fees and penalties up front if you cant obide by the contract or didnt read it for some reason that is on you so stop complaing about us when it is your own fault!!!!!!!
And to those who claimed that they opted out of the penalty increase I can guarentee the reason you were denied is because the opt out request wasnt post marked by the deadline.

i have a cross country credit card with a limit of $250. recently i lost my job and expalined that to them. i paid $200 in february 2003, at that time i asked them if there were any programs being offered. they told me no. now the balance is over $600 and i was told by customer service to pay $35 a month and i would still get charged an overlimit fee of $30. It will be like i'm not paying anything on the card and it will still go up. i would never be able to get ahead!!
Deceptive Practices
cross country bank sent me a card charging all kinds of fees total $300.00. My credit limit was $300.00. I have not used card and now owe over $2000.00.
Deceptive Practices
Cross Country Bank Stated that I owed them $568, but I never received a card from them. I would really like to know how I ended up with these charges if I never got the card. I'm not going to pay it, because it is not my responsibility. I never asked for a credit card, and I never got one. It is on my credit report, though. Imagine that.
Deceptive Practices
I sent the required documents back opting out of my current credit card agree, but my rates were still raised along with accessing $50.00 annual fee for servicing the credit card.
Deceptive Practices
I am making a complaint on cross country bank. I am getting harassed everyday to pay up my account. I have tried to cancel but they told me I could not. now I owe them 1200 dollars which may not seem a lot to some people but lets just say I started out with 200 credit limit and the other 1000 is from over limit fees and late fees. I am sick of this company saying they are trying to help people but in reality all they are doing is making peoples credit worse!
Deceptive Practices
I never activated my credit card with CROSS COUNTRY BANK yet it shows I owe them 152 on my credit report. I contacted them over this matter two years ago and it was at that time to be taken off but its still there and I'm refinancing my home..
Deceptive Practices
I have tried for over a week to get in touch with Cross Country to pay off my card because I can no longer handle the bad business practices (randomly changing my due date so they can charge a late fee-its happened 3 times in 2 years, raising my interest rate after paying off a large portion of my bill, calling me incessantly to tell me to pay my bill after I have already paid it, calling me with credit increases and incentives after I have requested to be pulled off the list) and they are going to charge me the finance charges for next month! I am paying it off! My bill says the pay off is $615 but when I call to see if I can work out some sort of percentage off if I pay it off completely, they guy tells me the pay off is $680! $65 in "finance charges and closing costs." I am in a mad search for some sort of class action suit against this totally dishonest company.
Former Employee
I used to work for Applied Card Systems, and they fired me because I was on medical leave from an auto accident, they didn't care, The Cross Country Bank Visa Card has no grace period, they told us to tell employers that it was urgent to speak to the card holder.
Deceptive Practices
Cross country bank recently raised their rates. I complied with the instructions toe opting out of their plan. They raised their rates on my account anyway.
Cross Country Credit Cards
To: Cross Country Bank I hope you are able to help me with a problem I've encountered with Cross Country Bank. The problem concerns the experience at your bank. The bank is located at The main office where ohoines are answered.. An unauthorized payment was taken out of my checking account for a friend's credit card. I have called and been told a different thing each time. First of all the woman who contacted my friend told her NOT to take a payment out of my account. The payment was taken out any way. We were told that the money would be put back in my account. Then we were told they had to have any returned check charges faxed to them. When calling again because the fax number was incorrect, I was told I also had to fax my bank statement that proved the money was actually taken out of my account foir the company. I was not told this the first time. Also that I could fax a statement for ANY charges from returned checks. I got a printed statement from the bank to show that one check was returned. Also the merchant that the check was written to had a charge. I called to check when I could expect my money in my account. The lady told me that a check for the payment was approved and would take three weeks. The printout I sent for the returned check was not what they wanted. I would have to send a full statement. She also stated that the merchants fee probablly would not be refunded. I am mainly upset because I can't get the same story out of two people. The money was taken out on March 31,2002 for account In the future I will likely take my business to other banks, and I'll urge others to avoid banking with you. Here's the resolution I propose: Refund my money. Also make sure employees are inserviced on policies about the company. Treying to get this resolved has been a terrible ordeal. I honestly am considering cancelling my account with Cross Country.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter. I look forward to your prompt reply.
