Post subject: moving my account around
HI, All, I am new to this board and I am very glad to be here. This is my first question. I received a letter from an AC who had previously been with another AC now they tell me this : This accoutnt has been transferred from AC to AC under the Fair Debt Collect Practices Act as a consumer we are informing you of this transaction. This new AC has purchased the above account XXXX. It goes on to tell me how important it is for me to call their professional services. Now I sent the first and second AC's C&D along with verification request. These both got CRRR. What whould be the best action or letter to send as I have again 30 days to respond to the newest AC? Also, received from a different AC awknowledging C&D but this also carried with it request for verification witch is past 30 days. This letter say's that "The letter serves as notice that my account information is being placed on my credit report" In my letter I said that if, they put any neg's on my CR that I would notify my AG. I think I should just file this one. Need anyone's imput please as I received the first one 6-10 and the 2nd 6-14. Good bless this board

When you sent the Cease & Desist Letters, where they full or limited... have to be carefull not to send the FULL C&D because then it might provoke them to legal remedy. With Limited C&D you are just informing them to contact you by mail only. So - so far you have chased off 2 collection agencies, and a 3rd one just bought the collection account.

Once again you are at square one, send out yet another request for debt validation and a limited cease and desist letter to the new collection agency.

Let me stop on second on this, and ask you - this is for sure the 1st letter you have received from this collection agency concerning the account. Because if you did not send DV request to them within 30 days - you could of lost your right to expect DV response. If you are within your 30 days rights, then I agree with you about contacting the AG, would forward copy of that letter, and if you kept the original DV letter you sent to them also copy that to forward to the Attorney Gerneral - pointing out that you had 30 days to request validation and they choose to ignore your rights...

Both of these collection agencies referring to the same debt then? This is hard when they start swapping around like this - it is done on purpose to confuse you and make you miss your 30 day period to request DV. So to be on the safe side, ever time you see a new company corresponding with you, automatically send them a letter - just to be safe.
