Credit Protection Insurance is a Rip-Off

Post subject: Capital One No Hassle Card is a Hassle!

I have posted here before and my troubles continue. The discrimination against the fact that my 15-year war with cancer occasionally made some payments late continues to present an absolute wall between me and any prospects of getting any credit extended my way in any shape or form. And, to compound the problem, I went into the hospital for a bit of cranial clean-up work courtesy of a brain tumor removed over 8 years ago. My so-called "balance insurance" from Cap One proved to be a waste of my payments to them for the aforementioned protection. After filling out reams of paperwork, they sat back and did nothing after assuring me my payments would be handled. They weren't, and Cap One has since driven another nail into my credit report coffin by reporting me as being over 120 days late!! Despite numerous calls to the Cap One Credit Insurance personnel, they've done nothing except continue to charge my over-limit account with their monthly fee for NO protection. Whoever coined the phrase "No Hassle" card should have been a fiction writer. Why do the country's lenders and card issuers always turn their collective backs on folks who've gone through a catastrophic illness? My CRA reports show that I DO pay my bills. Yet, I'm treated like a leper whenever I seek credit help, despite having sufficient income to cover any debts. One last question... Does anyone know of any card issuers who work "outside of the box," so to speak, rather than handing out blanket generalizations? Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Your website is a great service to the consumers of the world!!!
