Low Promotional Rate Credit Card Offer

Post subject: MBNA...maybe I can help.

I am a telemarketer for MBNA (DONT SHOOT..LOL). The reason I am posting it to maybe answer some questions. Yes,MBNA does offer 2nd accounts to people. I do this all the time. Sometimes, the second account has a lower fixed rate. Sometimes it has a low promotional rate (maybe youve had your account for awhile and want a promo rate). Sometimes the rates may be the same, and youve managed your account well so MBNA wants to extend to you a second acct. One thing that can help is lets say you have a balance on an acct with MBNA that youre trying to pay off. Well, when you revolve a balance, anything you charge will have interest on it from day one. There isnt a grace period. BUT if you have a 2nd account, you can use that for the small things you know you will be able to pay off with the grace period, like groceries, gas etc. BUT if you do not want a second account and you do not have a promo rate on your existing account, you can call and request a new promo rate be added to your card. And yes, if you already have 2 accounts, you can combine your 2 credit lines onto one card. I dont do that, thats another area of the business. Just wanted to share that.

Thank you for your knowledge!

That must be a hard job. I imagine you don't get alot of respect on the phone some days. I could never do it.

Thanks...it is tough but the money is good.Im not a pusher. I dont push elderly. I couldnt with good conscience do that.

Ive been told where to stick it, that I was going to be hunted down and killed and Ive been thanked. It varies. I even had a woman who was redoing her cupboards at the time tell me how to do it while I signed her up..(I was remodeling at the time) LOL..The hours are good so I can be home with my kids when they get home from school.

Thanks again.

I wish I could get somebody to tell me why I CAN'T get a "PRE-APPROVED" CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE...7+ years of none!!!

10+ year MBNA customer.

I was told "PAY IT OFF" and I can trade QUANTUM for AAA and AMTRAK...did that..."SORRY YOU CAN'T DO THAT--DO YOU WANT TO APPLY FOR THOSE CARDS?"

When I asked MBNA if I can replace one card for another, they told me it depends on the card you have. I was able to replace Barnes & Noble card for the Motley Fool card, but replacing Motley Fool for Elite Rewards is not possible, they said. The reason is because some of their affiliate agreements prohibit them from allowing customers to trade cards. Apparently, Barnes and Noble did not prohibit that, but Motley Fool does.

So Mouse why not apply for another account with MBNA and then pay off the other acct. if you don't like the Quantum. Another option is to ask for the retention dept. of MBNA and ask them for a lower interest rate or a higher CL. Good Luck

Thats too bad because Quantum card users have perks. There are some fees that they do not have to pay vs Plat holders, when Quantum customers call in,they are NOT put on hold, theyre bumped to the head of the line etc.

You can if they both are at the same interest rate and are not past due.. There also has to be the same cardholders responsible on each account....

How hard is MBNA to get relative to Chase or Citi. I have both, but would like an MBNA card, but am afraid since the requirements seem harder. Again, is it tough to get? Why aren't there instant decisions? Is every application looked at individually? Do they call you if they can't make a decision? How long does it take to hear from them?

Apologize for all the questions but your the first person openly admitting they work for MBNA and offer some insight. THANKS!

I have NOT canceled the card...THEY REFUSED TO DO THAT TO!!!

I still have the $75.00 BT fee...

Was $0.00 not too long ago!!!

You may never know..things happen...Also...The reason they wont let you just simply trade one account for a new one is because it would be considered a new account. It would have to have a totally new account number which is why you have to apply. When we call to offer second accounts to people, we have to have them fill in an application because its a new line of credit. I dont make the rules. I just work there.

Anyways..

No need to apologize I really cant say because I dont know how they work.In outward calling (where I work) we do have some programs that give instant decisions. If they cant make a decision (because they have questions about your application etc) they will call you. At the end of every application call I tell the customer that a quality or credit specialist may call them back in 3 to 4 weeks. Also, 3 to 4 weeks is the standard time in which to hear something. Its a law where we have to let you know in a months time what the answer is. You may hear sooner if you give them your email. And you wont get spammed either because we ask you if we can use your address to send you offers. Hope I helped you.

If It's any consolation to you, I had to submit an application twice for the same credit card just to obtain a lower rate! Which in my opinion, doesn't make much sense. I would suspect it's additonal work and wasted resources for telemarketers to be submitting new applications for each and every difference in credit terms!

I'd be happy to get just one card
I'd figure you could get the rate lowered over time.

Incognito, do you know how long it takes for MBNA to report to the CRA's once an account is open?.

But Quantum doesn't give 1% cash back like Motley Fool or 5% cash back like AAA. Yeah, Quantum doesn't charge foreign exchange rate, but with 1% cash back Platinum card, one pratically gets the same deal.

The difference is they don't pull a hard inquiry on one's credit report if one trades for another card.

I don't care if you saved 42% on a foreign exchange rate, I don't plan on leaving the USA.

I don't want another HARD, that is why I want to trade, I have traded many times before.
