Post subject: American Express Optima (Secured)

Does anyone know if American Express still offers a secured version of the Optima card? If so, does anyone know where to find information on it via the American Express website or know how to apply for it? Thanks for any help. I apologize for the double post, I am new to this.

A secured credit card is one where the issuer requires a security deposit, usually in the form of a savings account to guarantee the card.

If you open One American Express account with $ 25,000 deposit, they will issue you a Gold Preferred Rewards card. There is an annual fee $55.

Is the credit amount equal to the deposit?

It is a charge card and you can't carry the balance. At the end of each month, you have to pay the whole balance. It is not a credit card. But they report to the credit bureaus.

Why don't you ask someone to cosign AmEx card? That's the best way to get AmEx cards for the folk with so-so credit score. I love AmEx and I use it where it is accepted. Build up your credit with AmEx. Don't abuse it.
