Has anyone had any problems using travel certificates obtained through the Chase Ultimate Rewards credit card reward program? I ordered two Carribbean travel certificates (at a cost of 60,000 points) and they have turned out to be completely useless due to so many blackout dates in the high travel months of February, March and April. Further, even during dates that were not blackout dates (e.g., some times around Christmas), a Continental rep told me that the “Q” class seats are not made available during those times. As a result, despite trying to be very flexible on travel dates, I am not able to use these certificates. Chase’s rewards program brochure says that the awards are subject to blackout dates, but I think it is fraud to have consumers exchange valuable points for these rewards that have no practical value. I was going to file a claim in small claims court, but before doing so, I wanted to see if others had a similar experience, because if so, I might consider filing a class action claim instead. Please contact me if you have had any similar experiences regarding these award travel vouchers.
