Post subject: R U Crazy?: Pre Aprroved For Merrick Bank Visa 19.20% APR
Who Are These People . No Security Deposit, No Application Fee CL of $1750. I’m so excited, I don’t know what to buy first Avg score mid 700’s. , no late payments. I am not trying to establish or re establish credit. What are these people thinking, and where did they get my name from?

This is a Orchard, Premier, etc. wanna be. They specialize in helping “credit challenged” individuals. They apparently do alot of secured lending for RVs, boats, etc.
At 19 1/4%, thanks but no thanks. Could be of interest to some who are in BK or are otherwize impaired. If they don’t have all the fees of Orchard and the likes, could be a good option for them.

You’re probably on someone’s mailing list or they got your info from one of their affiliates. All banks do this. It’s in the T&C of your agreement. I’ve gotten offers from banks I’ve NOT done business with.

AJ-
Are you sure there are no other fees (i.e. monthly, annual or one-time fees)?

When I was rebuilding my credit several years ago, I rec’d one of the Merrick Bank cards. There were no other fees, just the 19. % interest rate. I started at $ 1000. and I think in no time the credit line was raised at regular intervals to a high of $ 2200. High rate, but good for rebuilding, and didn’t charge you any of those ridiculous fees up front or for credit line increase. I understand their cards are by “invitation only”, you can’t apply anywhere for them other than by the solicitation you recieve in the mail. It even says as much on their website. They will only allow you to apply for a secured card directly from the website.
