Once you spend 6500 on the card you get 5% and 1.5% cash back right?
My question is lets say you do some major spending when you first receive the card and get to 6500 in under a year. Do you stay at the second level for the rest of the life of the card or do you have to spend the 6500 every 5 years?

It’s based on “Year to date” spending. Your “rebate year” starts when you get the card, and continues for the first 12 statements. From what I understand, it resets after this, and you have to spend the $6500 to get the 1.5/5% again.

Yeah. So if you don’t spend a lot on non-EDP to get to the $6500 year-to-date tier early in the year, you might want to consider other cards.
For example, with the Citi Driver’s Edge card, if you participate in the Drive Rewards program (a minor hassle), then you can effectively earn up to 12% on EDP and 2% on non-EDP for the first year ($1000 reward max per year). In subsequent years, you can effectively earn up to 6% on EDP and 2% on non-EDP spending ($1000 reward max per year).
I know one can get multiple Driver’s Edge cards, but I don’t know if you can participate in the Drive Rewards programs with two different vehicles (one per card). Has anyone tried this?
