I assume that means you defaulted or filed a chapter against them. I know it’s removed from you reports after 10 years, but the banks still have you as being BAD

This is actually quite a complex question, depends on many variables and has nothing to do with the 7 or 10 years after which derogs fell off the bureaus.

The first question he who wants to know must ask himself is, “do I have gray hair today” and did I default or file pre-well-maintained computerized records. In other words, did I fill out all the apps for cards I defaulted on with a pen, or via keyboard, online.

If you filed or defaulted in the last 5 - 7 years, chances are no one, including Amex will ever forget about you.

Now the following isn’t etched in blood, but if you defaulted, for sure, and maybe if you filed pre-2000; Citibank, First USA/BankOne/Chase, Nations Bank, MBNA, Union Bank, House Hold, Fidelity, Wells Fargo and GE would’ve forgotten about you and know not who you are.

In fact, collectors wanna slit the throats of all the above for neither providing older original records, nor maintaining them.

I dunno about Amex’s special program, mouse’ll tell you about that, but what I know is Amex has a memory going back to the battle of Antetum, and so does Macy’s.

BOA has internal records of any MBNA/BOA account that has been included in BKO or charged off and it can prevent you from getting a card with BOA

the easier answer is to apply and find out…. I dont even know how you would know all of this for sure, anyway….folks have posted that they had old bad accounts from banks that got bought up by citi and that was enough….

Hey, if most armed felons get a second chance in society, I can only hope that cc issuers will give folks a second try at credit management.
