Post subject: Bank One–Chase merger of credit cards
I have a Bank One Visa with a $14,500 limit and a Chase Perfectcard with a $13000 limit.
Once they merge, does anyone know if I can combine the two cards into one $27,500 Perfect card from Chase?
I am thinking of getting rid of the Visa because the Chase Perfect card has a better reward program, but only if I can combine them, because I don’t want to lose the $14,500 credit limit from Visa. Maybe the merger will allow me to do this?
Does Chase do stuff like this?

The short answer is probably. however, When two companies merge there are always problems in merging their accounting systems which are usually quite different.
example: I have several Citibank cards which were originally from companies bought by Citi. I still can’t merge the cards because they still haven’t completely merged all the systems.
This sort of problem is not limited to credit card companies. I was with a paging company a few years ago which bought another paging company. The problems of merging the two systems into one billing and inventory control system almost put the merged company out of business.
