What is the best combination of cash back cards that everyone has found ? I'm currently using a Chase Rewards Plus card and will switch to Citi's Dividend card once I max out on the Chase.

I'm curious what works for others.

Citi Dividend, Citi AT&T universal, Chase cash plus rewards for 5% on gas and groceries.

Citi MTVU for 5% in points for restaurants, bookstores, cinemas.

Gap and Old Navy for 5% in points for gap, gap kids, old navy.

Discover Classic for whatever is giving me 5% (was restaurants, then online shopping, now health and wellness).

AMEX for 1% at costco.

Housholdbank Gold for 2% on other purchases.

The best combination of credit cards to maximize your annual reward will depend on how much you spend in each category (e.g. restaurants, gas, grocery, etc.) The analysis can be non-trivial given the large number of cash back cards and all their tiers, limits, spending categories, etc. The good news is that I built a tool that does the analysis for you. Just plug in your monthly spending in each category and it will crunch a large number of combinations of cards using a fairly complex algorithm and report the results of the best 2-card combo, best 3-card combo, etc. Of course it shows how much each of the leading cards would yield all by themselves (not in combination with another card). You can try the tool for free at http://www.CreditCardTuneUp.com/ .
