I called Chase to see if they would combine one account which was originally with BankOne and another Chase account. What I wanted to effect was one combined CL and combined outstanding debt from both cards.
They said they could only combine available credit and not the debt.
Both have 0%; however one expires next April and the other next September.
Is there a special way to ask them to do what I want or am I stuck with 2 cards until one is paid off?
Thanks

its quite difficult , unless you have another card from other credit issuers(MBNA,Citi , etc)and make a balance transfer for one of the Chase card , and with the other Chase cc send a balance transfer with the transfer fee(if any) and pay the non-Chase credit card. It costs a little more due to the transfer fee , but at least with this method you can consolidatethe balance in just in one Chase cc. The Chase cc that you want to close must be without activity for at least 90 days before closing, if not they remove $500 from their credit limit(this happened to me).

I dont know any special way of asking. You cant tell them that you will close (since you have a good rate on the balance). I guess just wait to get the balance paid off....

The account you are going to "MOVE" and close MUST be at $0.00
