NextCard Credit Card Offer

Author: Jacqeline Carr
Title: NextCard Credit Card Offer
Date: 1/3/2001 7:34 am CDT

I aqpplied for the Nextcard that had terms of agreement stating a fixed rate of 9.9 % on transfer balances. WhenI received the card and papers inside, it said something totally different. I called and the person on the phone said that I did NOT read the terms correctly. I know that I did becuase I have them printed out before me. Because you fail to comply with what I am suppose to recieve. Please stop the balance transfer immediately. I am very diasppointed with your service.

Jacqeline,

Thanks for your post! Unfortunatley, you will need to contact NextCard directly to cancel your card. All of the sites associated with this board are independent sites that are not directly associated with NextCard (NextCard is an advertiser). NextCard's phone number is 1-888-974-2265.

One thing that some NextCard applicants overlook is the important phrase "as low as". Legally, NextCard is required to use this phrase in all their marketing. You can see this phrase in use on their home page. You may already be aware of this, but just wanted to point it out. This is assuming that the rate you actually received was higher than 9.9%.

Dear Stewart,

The VisaRebates.com card is part of a pyramid payment plan, which I am sure you are aware of. Unfortunately, these types of cards deserve little respect due to such business models.

In addition, those individuals who apply may face an APR as high as 28%. Cardholders with poor or limited credit can find much better deals with secured cards or other unsecured cards.

Sincerely,
Alex Daskaloff

Alex,

"Whois" shows the following. Visarebates.com and their host server are owned by the same person. Anybody know these folks? (They sure do some pretty HTML work) I always wonder when they don't want to mention bank names. MLM is not the same as a pyramid scheme. MLM is legal, pyramids are illegal. It could be interesting, but not enough information is given.

Linda,

You are correct in your assertion about MLM. However, I would be quite leery of this particular program. I checked it out pretty thoroughly out of curiousity. There is a lot of hype about this program. You can read a number of posts by visiting the following Delphi forum (just one of several I found):

http://www.delphi.com/vrc411/start

A couple of things to consider:

1) Many similar internet programs have failed or on the verge of ceasing operations. A notable ex. is AllAdvantage.com.

2) The company hasn't made any payments yet to its members. I would take a "wait and see" attitude.

3) As you mention, they don't mention a specific bank that will issue the card. Multiple banks issuers seems to be somewhat unusual.

4) The frequent flyer offer seems to be very generous. The terms and conditions are not revealed, however (I couldn't find them anyway).

By the way, any VisaRebate solicitations on this board will be deleted immediately (we have already have had one instance).

Would welcome any more feedback from others!

citibank and universal at&t (a subsidiary of citibank) are offering 2.9% for 9 months. There is a balance transfer fee charged upfront equal to 3% of the amount of each transfer with a $29 cap. If you are transferring balances from more than one account, do not request a balance transfer on the application. Instead wait for approval and call customer service to request that they pay the money to you. Then the fee will be $29 and you can distribute the money to your creditors yourself.

Jenny,

You can find contanct info. for this card by visiting the "Card Reports" section of our site. Click on "Card Reports" from our home page and then click on "Reward Cards Report". You will then see a link for "Airline Rewards". This card does indeed offer miles and is a fairly attractive card (we rate it 3 out of 5 stars).

Hope this helps!

Credit Union Credit Card Offers

Dear CardRatings.org,

First I would like to tell you that this is the best site that I have
found on credit cards.

My question, after viewing your site and all available Banks and
Financial institutions that you have why have you not included Federal
Credit Unions?

Dear Jim,

Thanks for your recent inquiry! We have not included credit union cards because credit unions, as I'm sure you probably realize, have a limited field of membership (i.e. membership is a credit union is limited and not open to the general public).

Having said this, though, I would also add that credit union credit cards are generally more attractive than bank credit cards in terms of interest rates and fees (see our "Dislaimer Info." on the following page http://www.cardratings.org/rankings4.html ).
However, I have yet to see any credit union cards that have lower rates that the cards featured on our "Low Rate Report" (if you know of any, please post the details on this board).

I personally love credit unions...I belong to two credit unions and am a former credit union employee.

Hope this helps!

You are correct...this card has a lot of perks. We have rated it with three stars. Would like to see more feedback from other cardholders.

Thanks for including Alaska. It is an especially good
deal for those who fly up and down the west coast (and
its a good airline too).

I got to your site via a link on the hungersite. Thanks

GM Credit Card Offer

Author: Bill
Title: GM Credit Card Offer
Date: 3/30/2000 2:30 pm CDT

I was checking on credit card perks this evening and ran across the GM Card
w/ 5% rebate. Then using Hotbot.com 'credit card perks' found you.
You stated the GM Card has a 5% rebate with a $500 yearly limit. On the
GMcard.com site it stated 5% rebate on purchases of over $500 with "no annual
limit" - there is however a limit per vehicle.
This is just FYI
Thanx for starting this site I am sure it will be very helpful to the public.
Please inform me if I am correct - or if I mis understood the GM Card sites
info.

Bill,

Thank you so much for your feedback! You are absolutely right...GM changed the terms of this program apparently within the last week or two...because we updated our info. regarding this card earlier this month! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will update our site description.

You can, however, earn the 5% rebate on any purchases (regardless of the dollar amount). Additionaly, GM is limiting the amount of rebate earnings that can be applied to specific vehicles (see their "Redemption Allowances" page for more info.)...

http://www.gmcard.com/generic/a_indexredemption.html

One more note...you can now use rebate earnings for non-vehicle redemptions (i.e. travel, enterntainment, etc.). All in all, a great card!

Hope this helps...

Airline Rewards Credit Cards

Hi, just thought that I would let you know that I found your web site
very useful. I am looking for a no or low charge card that gives me
airline miles but so far I haven't found one. I currently use a Bank
America / US Airways gold card and pay $80.00/yr fee. I no longer
work and my credit card expenses have dropped so that it will now
take me about 3 years to collect enough miles to get a free trip.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Here is a card that I think that you should check out. It is the USAA eagle points card. You can use it for airline or cash back. I have been a member of usaa for many years, good company and great service.
