Cardholders of the TripRewards Platinum Plus MasterCard from MBNA America can now earn extra reward points with no annual fee.   Members simply use their TripRewards Platinum Plus MasterCard to pay for hotel stays at affiliated hotels and earn three points per dollar in addition to the ten points per dollar normally earned.   Thus, the total points earned per dollar for stays at qualifying hotels has increased to thirteen.

TripRewards members can also earn two points per dollar for all other retail purchases (wherever MasterCard is accepted).   The TripRewards Platinum Plus MasterCard enhances the current TripRewards program by allowing members to build their points balance faster by earning points for everyday purchases.

Members can choose to earn TripRewards points, airline miles or even railway points.   Points can be redeemed for any of the following:

Hotel stays (with no black out dates)
Airline tickets
Resort vacations
Electronics
Sporting goods
Movie tickets
Theme park tickets
Gift certificates

The ‘open arm’ structure of the program allows faster point building if cardholders stay in participating hotels, rent Avis or Budget rental cars and/or purchase everyday products and services from participating partners.   TripRewards members, over five million strong, can redeem their points at more than 6,000 hotels such as:

Super 8
Days Inn
Ramada
Howard Johnson
Knights Inn
AmeriHost Inn
TraveLodge
Wingate Inn

Based on the number of participating hotels, TripRewards is the world’s largest hotel loyalty program.

An online system allows TripRewards Platinum Plus MasterCard members faster access to their point balance, along with the ability to redeem rewards 24 hours a day.
