following is an update on my 2 credit card apps, citibank and first national. i learned NEVER apply unless you're pre-approved, which i have been many times. citi-bank has the worst service of any card, ANY!! i applied through your site it tok them ONE MONTH to decline, why you ask, as a dope that applys with them can call. the VERY arrogant jerky lady said my balances were too high!!! THATS NONSENSE!!
she admitted i owe a grand total of 2100.00 yeah two thousand one hundred, if i maxed out, it would be 3600.00 TOTAL!! never been late with anyone, f.i.c.o. is 724, i asked this jerk, than how can your compaNY GIVE ALLTHOSE COLLEGE KIDS CARDS, WHEN I MAKE 70 GRAND A YEAR, and have no installment payments, i challenged her to compare my background with the last 50 college approved cards, she stammered, yes she couls see why i was upset, BIG DEAl!!
this company is horrible, but i can't sue obviously, but i'd like to get my inquiry off, any suggestions??!!

now onto first national bank, they're still "investigating" but they were slooow too. i just love babk of america, and u.s. bank has been terrific, very courteous and quick!! in fact those 2 previously mentioned are the best, i consider citi-bank BELOW!! aspire, premeire orchrd...etc yeah the high interest people, i know that, no i received pre-approved from all 3, and have done nothing yet!! citi-bank owns too many others, so i have to weed them out first!!
Best Regards,
Curtis Arnold

wow! That's a lot of anger being vented toward Citi.

Hey, I understand your frustration. But, face it ... there's nothing personal here. You simply don't meet their credit criteria (and, yes, those criteria are likely being applied in too simple fashion in your case).

I will note that of all credit card issuers with which we have dealt, our 16 year Citi relationship has been one of the most satisfying. We've had no reason for complaint.

Citi is by no means the "be all and end all" of credit card issuers. If you find that based upon your experience with this application you have no interes in a Citi account, that's no sweat off either your necks. If you are interested, you might follow up their rejection with a request for reconsideration -- citing your limited accounts in place as the reason for a high utilization rate and noting that your credit history is free of delinquencies.

I experienced the same thing as OP. Granted, I didn't have a real credit history, but scores are also high when you don't have credit history, no? Anyways, I was also approved for cool cards, just not my dream card, the dividend cash back =(

This still doesn't detract me from my goal of getting that card because citi has the one of the best pro-customer reputation in the business. (They screw everyone else, but are really good to customers!)

I got the citicard div as a student and have had a great experience with them. I've had to call customer service a few times and have been satisfied with their fast response time.
