I got approved for a Macy's card last May. Do you have to ask them for a credit line increase or will they do it automatically? I have the red card (I know there are a few). I have made every payment on time and I have not maxed out the card. I have around 60-75% available. I figured they would increase it after 6 months or a year, but it has been a year and still nothing. Thanks for your help!

I'm assuming you mean May, 2004. Correct?

Do I have to ask them? No, but you might want to ask Macy's yourself directly. They can give you a more accurate answer than can anyone here.

What would be a reasonable amount of time to wait after opening a new account before asking for a CLI?

I've also got a Macy's card with a pathetically low limit.

My Macy CL they gave is soo low that Miss Meow and Cuss Cuss might as well go shopping for her Fiskers Cat food.
However, Bloomingdales gave CLI after I got approved
