Using privacyguard, my scores are:

Equifax : 722
Experian: 716
TU: 722

I have 6 months of credit history, 3 cc currently. Yesterday and today PG jumped about 40 points. I think its because I reached the 6 month mark for my cc.

Anyway, I decided to celebrate by applying for what I think is the best cc, the citibank cash back, and got it, wahoo!!!!! $1100 limit I think I want to call them to increase limit, how do you rate my chances? What should I say?

I am studying + working, so income is low. I graduate soon. Do you think they'll care if I tell them I'll soon earn a lot? Heh

Thanks everyone here Bumping the inquiries via PG was what increased my score and I never knew this till I got here!!!

Wait a few months - normally six months - until you ask for a limit increase. The lender has already assessed your credit worthiness and has established an initial limit for you. Unless you have additional information not contained in your credit report to bring to the table, why should they increase your credit limit when you have no history with them? Use the card a few times, pay your balance in full, and you will have established an account history. BTW, when asking for a limit increase it's just like a new application insofar as it involves the lender obtaining a new copy of your credit report.

I like the Citi Dividend card also. Once you reach $50 in rebates, you can request a rebate check. I noticed my "dividend" was $52 last week and requested a check using their web site. The site indicates I should receive it in about seven days. I keep this card paid off and only have paid about $.50 in finance charges. This is a good return for a four month old card!

I just called up Citi and had my Platinum Select for College card changed to a Dividend Platinum. I hope my experiences will be as good as those everyone here has had.

Well, I won't say my experience is really that good. But its fine. Lemme post a followup to my original euphoric post. =)

So, when applying for the card, I think I was asked to choose an online ID or something. I chose my favourite ID (I use it all the time, and its chosen for its uniqueness--am relatively sure there's nobody else using this ID)

When I got the card a 1.5 month later (they needed extra verification of my address, and I guess they work slow(?), I tried to do online a/c registration. This was a friday. The system couldn't register my account number, and the customer service person said I should wait at least 24 hours. So I waited, but apparently they needed some human input, its not all automated, and the account couldn't be registered on Saturday. So I decided to wait till Monday-Tuesday.

On Monday, I tried again. I used my favourite ID of course, but the system said this ID was taken! I was pretty amazed, as this is a unique combination. I called Citibank and asked if I really couldn't use my favourite ID. First CSR couldn't help, transferred me to another lady who seemed knowledgable. This lady told me after some checks that the ID I wanted was registered, by ME ! Apparently, this was when I first created the ID to apply for the card. So it is MY ID. She wanted me to create a new ID, but I insisted on my favourite one, so she's like, "fine, I'll work this for you, please give 72 hours, and try again on ---day." She named a day which was actually 96 hours away.

So I waited, and tried to login 96 hours later. And it returned the same error, user ID taken. I called again, they had to transfer me 3 times this time round. First person I spoke to said no deal, create a new ID. I hung up and called again. This time, after 2 transfers, the person I spoke to said she can try to help, she knows what the problem is. She said I should give 72 hours, and try again on ---day. She named a day which was actually 96 hours away.

96 hours later I tried to login, and it worked great.

So altogether, I got my card almost 2 months after that first application was approved. I've just begun using my new citibank dividend card. My CL is low, but I don't mind that.

Did anyone manage to finish reading my rant? lol. All that being said, Citi has a good reputation in customer service. They have a horrible reputation in financial circles, but that's different.

One tip I hope to try soon is this. Redeem your cheque everytime you hit $50, because apparently whenever you redeem, they will give you 1 month bonus %. So you get 6% for everyday purchases, 2% for all others for that 1 month.

in my case i had two wait 2 months to receive the card , because of my address. I live in Puerto Rico , and my address is in Spanish . Apparently they wrote incorrectly my address and the card was lost. They insisted to wait until 2 weeks more, but i don't have the mood to do it(it was nearly a month since approved) , thankfully i reach the Spanish Customer Service and they solve the problem , but the new card was lost again. I call again , and this time a new card was sent via UPS in a matter of 24 hours.
