Orchard Bank® Visa® Card Review

Full Review

Curtis Arnold Editor-in-chief
Orchard Bank Visa Card takes the fear and guesswork out of applying for a credit card with bad credit. This subprime card from Capital One uses its parent's lending portfolio to help Americans who may have experienced problems with their credit in the recent past. If you've been late on your credit cards or car payments, or if other banks have turned you town, an Orchard Bank card may be your second chance at building a solid credit history.

Trading high fees for a fresh start

Unlike so-called "fee harvester" cards that barely leave you any room to breathe, Orchard Bank Visa Card's fair and transparent fee structure gives you access to a reliable credit card that's accepted almost everywhere. Annual fees range from $0 to $59, depending on your credit score, and most customers get approved for variable interest rates that reach well into double digits.
If your application requires a more thorough review, Orchard may charge a processing fee to your first statement. Your credit limit may be far lower than what you might have been accustomed to from other lenders, but you won't want to carry much of a balance on this Visa card, anyway.

Should you switch to Orchard Bank Visa Card?

Not unless you've exhausted most other options. Orchard Bank Visa Card is frankly a credit card of last resort, and the last reasonably fair deal before you fall into the abyss of credit cards for bad credit. If you're serious about rebuilding your credit history, Orchard Bank cards represent one of just a few issuers still willing to take a risk on you. It's up to you to treat your new account right, so you can switch away to a less expensive credit card in the future.
