This is a pre-paid card and since you are only spending money you add to your prepaid card account, you can avoid falling into debt and possibly damaging your credit score. But since this account is reported to the credit bureaus it allows you to build on time payment history, which is about 33% of your credit score. If you set up a recurring direct deposit of $100 or more, you receive a $25 credit on your account after your second deposit. Downside: There is a monthly maintenance fee of $9.95. There is a $1 balance inquiry fee and a $2.59 ATM transaction fee. There is also a bank teller cash advance fee of $4.95.
