American consumers have spoken! They really like some credit cards.
From September through December, CardRatings.com asked readers to choose their favorite credit cards or issuer in five key areas. After tallying hundreds of responses, we present the CardRatings Consumer’s Choice Awards for the Best Credit Cards of 2010.
Best Cash Back Credit Card:
Winner: Blue Cash from American Express
Runner up: Chase Freedom
Best Airline Credit Card:
Winner: Blue Sky from American Express
Runners up: USAA World MasterCard and Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards (tie)
Best Reward Points Credit Card:

Winner: Chase Sapphire Card
Runner up: Blue from American Express
Best Value Credit Card:
Winner: USAA World MasterCard
Runner up: Clear from American Express
Best Customer Service:
Winner: American Express
Runner up: Discover
American Express is the overall winner, with one of its cards placing in every category and taking top honors for customer service. None of these American Express cards has an annual fee.
CardRatings.com founder Curtis Arnold chose his favorite credit cards for the year, and he agreed that Chase Sapphire was the top rewards points card. His top cash-back card was from Pentagon Federal, the PenFed Visa Platinum Cashback Rewards Card. While PenFed’s products are geared to military families, you can join a partner non-profit organization and still apply for this card.
