Chrysler Group announced it will introduce a new automotive rewards credit card in May. The carmaker is collaborating with First National Bank of Omaha and MasterCard on this co-branded card that would bear one of the following names: Chrysler, Jeep, Ram Truck, Dodge or Fiat.
The purpose of the new credit card rewards program is to thank loyal customers by offering rewards in the form of cash off vehicle purchases and discounts on sales and service at Chrysler dealerships, according to Fred Diaz, president and CEO of Ram Truck. But rewards can also be earned on travel as well as general MasterCard purchases.
Rewards at a glance
The Chrysler Group MasterCard credit card will pay rewards on all MasterCard purchases, with premium rewards paid for travel purchases and Chrysler products and services. When customers make purchases with the Chrysler Group credit card, they will earn:
- Three points for every dollar spent at Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Truck, and Fiat dealerships
- Two points for travel-related purchases
- One point for all other purchases.
Points will be redeemable for travel, merchandise, gift cards and cash discounts on vehicles, parts and services at Chrysler Group dealerships. There will be no cap on how many points cardholders can earn and redeem.
The new rewards credit card will give drivers a way to "demonstrate their affinity for the brand" while earning rewards at their dealer and places where MasterCard is accepted, according to Craig Vosburg, group executive with MasterCard Worldwide.
The card will have a "competitive" annual percentage rate and no annual membership fee, according to a press release.
