I know of your love for AMEX credit cards. I carry one myself and love it. I however could totally see the benefits of a Centurion if you travel frequently and are upgraded seats on a plane due to your automatic elite status.
If you don't travel, it's a damned expensive piece of plastic.

If you make enough to be offered a black card, the $2,500 is pocket change. I've heard you need to spend $250K *on an amex card* to be invited.

ok , here we go, I was not approved for the visa signature one but for the regular one ( platinium ) they gave me a C.L of $19500.00 pretty nice to start with , my score was 661 and i only had credit history for 15 months when i applied. I told b of a that my yearly income is $142000.00 and i also told them i have a s500 mercedes Benz . The card got some cool features and you dont need to have a mercedes ....also if you planning to lease one , its very good to start a great history with them. All my friends got high limits on this card as well , just try you will see for yourself!! spjoink
Also, many card issuers don't base their decisions on score only. Some also use an internal scoring method.
Author: QikPass Posted: Sat May 27, 2006 11:46 pm Post subject:
yoou wont know until you apply. They denied me with a 712 score, because i had 3 inquiries on my report within 6 months, said they like to see no more than 2. (1 of these was for a new phone and the other 2 were for a BOA checking and savings account, not applications for credit) so who knows what they look for, just apply...wait for a decision and move on either way.

Credit Score: 700+ Credit History: 10+ Years Payment In Good Standing For: 5+ Years ABSOLUETLY NO NEGATIVE WHATSOEVER NO RECENT INQUIRIES NO DEBT 0%
Author: Austin Posted: Fri May 26, 2006 4:35 pm Post subject: credit card account sold to another bank ??
Hello folks,
Gotta situation where I hope someone can advice me about legal options
I've had a platinum visa card from Bank A which I had been keeping in good standing since I was issued the card almost 2 yrs ago. About 5 months back, I got a letter from Bank A telling me that they've sold my visa card account to Bank B. Then I got a package from Bank B welcoming me as their client along with a new visa card issued by Bank B which was just a regular visa instead of platinum. They also mentioned that they've third party service that will be taking care of this account, meaning I'll be making payments to that third party instead of directly to Bank B. I was surprised how could they sell an account just like this, and whether there's anything that would make Bank A to first get my persmission to do that. Because in doing so, they've transferred/sold all my personal information (full name, address, SS#, DOB, mother's maiden name etc) to Bank B which in turn gave this info to that third party service.
I argued with Bank A and initially they said that the credit card agreement does mention this clause whereby they can sell the account w/o prior approval from the credit card holder. I reviewed the agreement and couldn't find any such clause and I inquired again with both Bank A, B about it and now they're saying that it doesn't have to be in the credit card agreement, banks just can do it, they don't need any approval from credit card holders. I told Bank B & the thrid party service provider that I can't make any payments to them since I don't consider them the rightful creditors for this account and that this account needs to be reverted back to Bank A before I can start making payments.
My question is, is there really such thing that creditors can sell the credit card accounts w/o actually getting a nod from the card holder and what about all the personal info that they've sold w/o my approval ?? can I go after Bank A and file a legal claim against them ??

Who are Bank A and Bank B? It may help you get more solid answers
From my reading, its not uncommon for banks to sell accounts so I would guess that they do have the right to do that.
Not paying your bill isnt going to get you anything but bad credit. I really don't understand your logic of not paying Bank B. You really think they will change your account back to your original bank if you refuse to pay?
Read your TOS really closely. Bank A can make changes anytime all they need to do is send you notice. If you fail to reject the terms its implied consent.
They include extra things with the bills all the time and if you are anything like me, I toss all the extra stuff. You may have missed it.
Author: Austin Posted: Fri May 26, 2006 6:20 pm Post subject: Credit Card Account Sold to Another Bank
Hi fitz, thanks for your reply.
Providian were the actual creditor on this account, they sold it to some GA based Columbus bank which has SST as a 3rd party service provider on this account.
Making changes to the credit card agreement is one thing but selling this account to a different bank is an all together different thing. My point of contention with them is that Providian hasn't been forthcoming in this whole matter. . First they told me that TOS does contain the clause by which they can sell this account. I specifically asked them to send me a copy of the agreement which they did and I just couldn't find any such thing. And when confronted, now they're simply saying that it doesn't have to be in the agreement. Second, how could they be selling my personal info to some other banks, I mean if there was a bank merger, I can understand but now my personal information is floating around to companies whom I didn't consent to provide all that data. And then, this new bank downgraded the account to regular visa instead of platinum even though I had it in good standing with Providian.
Author: fitz75 Posted: Sat May 27, 2006 12:23 am Post subject: Credit Card Account Sold to Another Bank
Well, Washington Mutual bought/merged with Providian. So your issue probably has to do something to do with that.
You can check with a lawyer to see how legal what they did was, but I am betting you won't have any recourse.
If the only difference is the word platinum, I'd keep the account going for the sake of a positive TL. If they changed rates/credit limit for the worst, you can always try to get another card and BT.
AmEx is running 4.99 for the life of the BT with no fee on their Blue Cash cards and I am sure there are some other better ones out there.
Author: jobbaker Posted: Fri May 26, 2006 9:22 am Post subject: "Activating" Replacement Credit Cards
What with all the name changes and bank merges, we have ended up way way, way too many credit cards - few of which we use! I thought that, perhaps, if I did not call to 'activate', it might cause that card to be 'cancelled'.
Unfortunately, it did not work with the one I tried. I called the Customer Service number instead of the 'automatic activation' number and the CR person kindly cancelled it for me ... and I did not have to cut it up and return it.
Aggravating and a nuisance and it easier to just leave them alone. The 'activation' is generally just a ploy to offer unneeded insurances that are good money makers for credit card companies. It seemed a good idea and worth a try.
Anyone have an idea for cancelling unused credit cards?

Why?
If there is no annual fee, just keep it for the history.
If some of your card comps have merged, try some consolidations.

i did and didnt find anything i got 0% for 48 months on BT and 7.49 for purchases i payoff monthly so i am not much worried about that but i get points off my insurance bill for all monies spent so if i can save a few hundred dollars on car insurance....doing ok huh?
Author: Polonius Posted: Fri May 19, 2006 8:51 am Post subject:
0% for 48 months on a BT? Incredible. I don't see anything like that on its Web site--and I've never heard of any 0% BT set up that way.
Can you give some more details? Which card was it? Where did you find the application?
I have my auto insurance at State Farm too. But the top rebate is just 1% for the cards on see on its Web site, and I can do better elsewhere.
Capital One 1.99 % APR for Life of Credit Card Balance Transfer
Author: hallous Posted: Wed May 17, 2006 1:45 pm Post subject: CapitalOne 1.99 APR BT for life
I'm curious about how sane this idea sounds.
Does it make since to do a 1.99 APR for life BT of 30000 from my HELOC (at ~7.00 APR) to this capital one card? I just feel kind of uneasy about it because I'm not sure what my payments will look like and how well I can trust Capital One not to change the agreement on me.
Also, the offer states that the BT is fee free.
What do you all think?
Author: XeroK00L Posted: Wed May 17, 2006 2:57 pm Post subject:
Sure, take advantage of a lower APR whenever you can. In the unlikely event that Cap 1 doesn't honor the deal or you don't like the payments you have to make, you can always pay it off with the same HELOC. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose really.

Ummm, I thought Capital One didnt report credit limits, and if that is true, what is $30,000.00 debt going to look like????
Author: Ira Posted: Thu May 18, 2006 1:51 am Post subject: Capital One 1.99 % APR for Life of Credit Card Balance Transfer
Quote: I'm not sure what my payments will look like They'll look like....well.....payments!
But seriously, minimum will be 2% of principal which would be $600.00 first month. At 1.99% APR you'll start out with a finance charge of just under $50.00 (you do the math if you don't believe me) per month which will raise your initial minimum payment by just under a dollar. Of course you can always pay more than the minimum and thus retire the loan earlier.
My advice: take the money and run.
Quote: I thought Capital One didnt report credit limits, and if that is true, what is $30,000.00 debt going to look like???? It will look like a very low interest $30,000.00 debt. Hey, which is more important, saving a pot of money over the long run or worrying about how that saving will affect some artificial number like a credit score?
To repeat myself, take the money and run! Every time!
