Post subject: What is up with MBNA and the AAA Visa ?

I applied online for the AAA visa with MBNA, and I was not instantly approved, in fact, I got no other message other than we will let you know within 30 days. I called the customer service line today, and spoke with a guy named Paul. I have 200 K equity in my house, very good credit for well over ten years (729 Experian score - which they checked), and income of about 60K, with credit card balance of about 900, and I have been on my job for over 5 years. He proceeded to grill me on just about everything - why is most of your credit after 1994 ? Have you ever had financial problems in your lifetime (!!!!!) what kind of $$ do you have in your savings and checking, what is the equity value in your home ,
"I show a tax lien from 1999, what was that about and has it been paid ?" (It wasn't on the Experian report I pulled on 7/1, and when it was, it showed as paid.) Your first credit shows as 1983, what type of credit was that ??????? (What ????1983 ????? Is that 23 years ago ????) Do you have any investments ? Why do you want this particular card ?
(OMG - AMEX gave me $ 5600 line without batting an eye.) He then said he would approve it for a $ 2,000. line to start (which is their minimum line). I really just wanted it for the gas rewards - I didn't expect this interrogation !!!! What is up with them ????

OK, so they originally pulled Experian, but now, after I was told I was approved, they pulled another hard inquiry on Trans Union today.
MBNA is a real trip !!!!!!!!!
