Hi, I am about 10,000 dollars in credit card debt and trying to see if a company I found on the web - thedebtsolution.com - is legitimate and worthwhile. Instead of consolidating debt and reducing intrest rates they work with credit companies to make settlements on your behalf - be their fee is 25% of what they save you. You also have to sign over power of attorney. I've never heard of a debt settlement type consolidation company and am wondering if it is a good idea. They claim they can get settlements for 40% of the debt. I also want to know if I can get better deals negotiating myself with credit cards. My credit is pretty bad and some cards are on the verge of suing me so I want to do something fast. I've tried Consumer Credit Counseling but they screwed up my payments and one of my cards sued me so I'm not going back to them. Does thedebtsolution have any complaints or reviews? Is there a site for that? Is doing this a good idea? Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks.

I would first check them out with Better Business Bureau, the BBB charges a small fee now but, it's worth it to know who you are dealing with. Besides I don't believe that the service they provide isn't anything you couldn't do on your own.... at least you would be showing an effort to make good on your debts. The worst that anyone could say is "no". I know someone who did just that but, be prepared to send the agreed settlement with in a months time. After all, you are "making a deal". Best of Luck! Linda P.S.-Hal has some really good advice! Hope that he replys to your question.... Hal Yes!
