Post subject: Restaurant Rewards Credit Cards
I learned on these boards that Discover card has a cashback bonus of 5%through November 2005 for $ spent at restaurants. Does anybody know of other credit cards that offer such higher incentives at restaurants. It would be nice to have a card to use side by side with the Citi Rewards.

There is a Discover Restraunt card that gives 5% back at restruants all the time. That and my Citi Dividend are my main purchase cards.

A note about the current Discover Card promotion... Those who already have the Gas, Restaurant, Home Improvement, and Education rewards cards are not eligible.
After I got the Citi Dividend and Chase Cash Plus cards, I converted my Discover Card to the restaurant rewards card.

The problem with the Discover restaurant promo is that very few restaurants accept Discover. At least our two or three favorite restaurants do not. Has anybody else run up against this?

A few times. My fav. donut shop takes Discover but isn't coded as a restaurant. Pizzia place in the local mall (where kids must get pizza) doesn't take discover. Most of the real sit down for a meal restraunts here in Houston take discover, same for the national fast food chains.
Discover seems to be more widely accepted than AMEX, but not as much as VISA/MC.

Didn't know you were in Houston! Guess folks are pretty nervous about the hurricane around there, huh? My wife and I were in Galveston a month or so back. I hope Galveston isn't hit too bad. I was also interviewed on the local Houston ABC station regarding student credit cards.
