not usually. i run a business and receive offers for business cards frequently (i.e., MC, Visa, AMEX) and the applications ask for the social security number of the responsible officer. This has not been true in the case of retail cards though, such as staples, office depot, gas cards, etc.

Your question is one that I have been trying to find the answer to for ever months now. If your business is incorporated you should not have to give out any of your personal information so I've been told from several sources, however, I haven't been able to get past this issue myself. If you happen to find any creditors that base their scoring on your D&B and tax ID please let me know.
