American Express announced new rewards partners this week. In a press release, the company revealed a number of new ways its cardholders can use their rewards points for city-specific deals.
The company now partners with Seamless, an online food delivery service that partners with more than 9,000 restaurants in about 40 cities. Members can order from their favorite local eatery for delivery or takeout and pay using electronic certificates redeemed with their American Express rewards points. Every 1,000 points is worth a $10 e-certificate.
Another new AmEx rewards partner is Groupon. Members can pay for deals in preferred cities using gift cards and electronic gift cards purchased using rewards points. The same is true for new partner vente-privee USA, an online retailer of European and American designer fashions at up to 70 percent off retail.
Computer maker Dell is now allowing points to be redeemed for electronics and accessories. The company had previously only allowed the redemption toward gift cards.
American Express cardholders can earn up to one point for every dollar spent on standard eligible purchases. Extra points can be earned when using the card to shop through American Express' online shopping portal, and via setting up automatic monthly bill payment through the cardholder's American Express card. Rewards points do not expire and there is no limit to the amount of points that can be earned. Members can redeem them through any of AmEx's partners in such categories as travel, entertainment, dining and shopping.
