Reporter from major financial website looking for consumers to interview! A reporter is doing research and would like to know if anyone has evidence of a credit card issuer offering different reward card terms to different customers for the same card. For example, one customer getting a 5% rebate for Card A, while another customer gets a 2% rebate for Card A. This reporter has reason to believe that card issuers are giving certain customers better reward card benefits than others. If you are interested in sharing your story about this subject, please contact us ASAP as the reporter is working on a tight deadline. Thanks in advance for your help!

A guest asks, "Hi I just got a second card from Chase with 0% APR. I have another card with them with rewards. I was wondering can I transfer credit limit to the 0% APR card?"

Mouse replies, "Same company...NO. You can BT it to another card NOT CHASE and BT it to the other CHASE card Or ask if they will let you direct deposit it to your checking account. If they do, when it posts, pay the other card off with the money in your checking account."

Senior Member, Ira, posts, "One-of-A-Card is a series of cards (choose one) offered by First National Bank of Omaha. They will emboss your photo, or any photo of your choice cirectly onto the card. I believe that's a first. All of their cards have the following features: No annual fee
1 reward point for every $1.00 you spend (more about this later)
Earn up to 75,000 points each year
no redemption feed for merchandise
no redemption fees for gift certificates
Take up to 5 years to earn & redeem your points
0% interest on balance transfers through August, 2005
7.99% interest on purchases through August 2005
Points can be redeemed for air miles, gift certificates, or my own personal favorite, warm soft cash!
You can also get their "consolidator" card which offers a 4.99% APR for the life of any balance transfer made at the time of application. Sounds almost too good to be true, doesnt it?. Check it out at www.oneofacard.com"

Reply from Senior Member, Eugene, "I heard about issuers that can put your photo on the card before. I looked at their demo, it's cool. I would not mind having a photo (any photo) on the full size of the card instead of a small ID-type photo that Citi allows me to put. Their cash back program is not competitive, however. The minimum purchases you need to make in order to get ANY cash back is $7,500. You start earning 1% from $20,000 in purchases, and you cannot earn more than 1%. I think I'll carry a photo in a separate pocket of my wallet for now."

A guest asks, "My At&t MC is offering to change my 7.99 variable to a 7.99 fixed. Also they're giving me 0% on new purchases for 6 mos. This is after refusing to lower my rate. Good or bad?"

Ira replies, "In this era of RISING interest rates, why even ask? You'll never see a permanent fixed rate lower than 7.9%. Just remember to ALWAYS get your payments in on time or you'll see just how fast they can raise that "permanent" rate."

Luckl asks, "Quick point / question...If in this time that the Fed rate and prime rates are at all-time lows and Credit cards are still charging on some cards as much as 28% interest (supposedly variable with the prime rate). If the prime goes up and these CC's are already charging the max interest rates...their margins would shrink, normally they pass that on by raising their rates. Can they still do that if they are already gouging customers @28%? Could we see 30+% rates? Is that legal? Aren't their usury laws capping how high these rates can get?"

Guest replies, "Absolutely yes without a doubt. Don't feel to bad though, it is not only the gougers that will raise rates, even superprime issuers like mbna, citi, chase, bofa are going to pass this increase on to their customers, but to your point. If emerge is charging you 29.75, your new rate is 30.00 and yes it is legal."

Senior member, Verne, comments, "There's no federal cap on interest rates - it's up to the states. Many states like New Hampshire and Delaware have none. Usury is alive and well."

Review: I made the mistake of short paying by $1. I paid $60 instead of the $61 due. So I was charged a $35 late fee and turned over to the collections department. Do they really need to treat everyone as if they are dead beats. A one dollar mistake and you would think I have never apid my account and owe them a million dollars. The 1st person Vicki in the Greensboro center has to be the all time rude person of the year. I aksed to speak with a manager over 20 times and was told I did not need to speak to one. After hanging up and calling back and speaking with another 3-4 people I was able to speak with someone that was willing to correct. I also escalted to the Presidents office 800-323-9396 that helped to resolve the problems. Bottom line these people lie about everything, keep notes of everone you talk with dates and times.

Review: This card is horrible and the customer service department, or should I say what service, they leave you on hold for 10 minutes and then would not even help due to the fact my husband is the main card holder. They left a message on our phone the end of June to call back. My husband advised them we never got our new cards. They mailed out new cards and we activated them. On July 22 I went to use the card they refused the purchase, called Customer Service and they said your cards have a block on them and we can not speak to you because you are not the main card holder. What a policy I can use the card all over, pay your bill but they can't speak to me. After being put on hold for 10 minutes and a new customer service rep, they said oh we see your husband did call in June we will now activate your card which by the way I had a large amount of credit becuase I overpaid my bill. I would never tell anyone to apply for this card, time and time again it was a overall horrible experience dealing with them.

Review: I have not had any problems with this card, minus the website being down a great deal of time. If you pay your required amount due each month you won't get fees/apr increase. Credit cards companys have to make money somehow. Can you imagine if there were no consequences to non-payment? Nobody would bother to pay their bill. This card has a decent apr and they have gave me a credit limit increase several times. I am 21 and this card has really helped me out in many ways. I would recommend this card. If you understand how credit works and the importance of making your payments on time. You will be just fine. The only thing I find really annoying is when you call to make a change of address or something simple like that-the rep on the phone, trying to sell you something you don't want. If I say I'm not interested lets leave it at that. Okay?

Review: The Chase Perfect Card is a great card for those individuals who pay off their balance every month and tend to use a lot of gasoline. The 3% gas rebate (6% teaser for the initial 90 days) is certainly helpful now that gas prices are up. The rebate is automatically applied to you next payment so you reap immediate rewards instead of waiting a year to cash in on your accumilated rebates. The only complaint I have is that the Chase website is not the most informative in the industry. The MBNA web site is much more intuitive and lets you see temporary authorizations against your card. Chase makes you wait until the transaction has cleared before you see it. Also there is no credit card protection system offered like Verified by VISA or ShopSafe.

Worst Feature: Internet account information site is rudimentry.

Review: Attracted by the 0% one year balance transfer ad, I opened a Discover card account this past February and transferred over several thousand dollars of debt. Great right - an interest free way to pay off balances over a year? Wait. Got several calls from Discover asking why I wasn't using the card and telling me about the 10% cash-back deal on groceries though the end of June. Sounds good, I thought, so I started using my card for grocery purchases. Ran up about $250 in charges and paid much more than that on my monthly bill. On recent bill I noticed a finance charge. Called Discover and asked what gives: I paid off all new balances and have a 0% deal on the rest through 2/05! Well, they replied, all payments get credited toward the lowest apr rate first. What?? you're telling me I can't pay off the $250 in groceries until I first pay off the several thousand dollars in balance transfers first and I'll incur finance charges until I do so? That's right. But Discover called me and induced to start using my card for the 10% cash back deal! We're a business, they responded. Unbelievable!

Review: I just got word that I was approved for this card. I have read all of the posted reviews and have this to say. I know of 2 people who alsp have this card. 1 of them has made one payment and let the card go, now First premier Bank wants their money. The second person is using the card very well with no problems. I think that if you keep up your payments, you will be okay. You were the one who screwed up your credit to begin with. This is now the price you need to pay to rebuild your credit. I feel it's a start and a small price to pay for something that can help you in the future long run of things. Think of all you can do with good credit in the future.

Review: I have been with WAmu since they opened a branch in my town square 6 yrs ago. I was so annoyned by my other bank that would charge me 1st for overdrawing, and secondly for everyday that I remained overdrawn. Wamu simply charged me a much smaller overdraft fee, with no penalty for remaining overdrawn. This year wamu started "wamoola". that works like this: you designate a school of your choice that you want to benifit, when you use your card for purchases, you earn points. these points get converted to cash and presented to the school at the end of the school year, along with the other points earned by other people who have this. and its simply great! i have 2 kids in elementary school and even if you dont have kids its still great to help the schools out. when i phoned, wamu even asked if i wanted them to recomened a needy school. Great people, great value, and less fees!

Review: They say they mail the statements on the 18th of the month. I get the statement close to a month later. The customer service reps say they will remove the extra charges. I pay the bill in full, and see late charges and interest on the next bill. I call them back and the customer service rep says all extra charges removed, then I get another bill .... wrote to the HQ 3 times and no response. This is the WORSE credit card company. Review: I used this card to purchase a laptop for my son and was able to take advantage of a limited time offer that saved me over $200 as well as giving me one year to pay with NO interest. Though, the interest would have been phenominal if it had not been paid before then. Of course it is always a wise idea to understand the ways of any kind of credit, they don't just "give it away" after all. This is a company not a charity. But any informed consumer can take great advantage of these oppurtunities. I also use the card on a regular monthly basis for all kinds of needs and especially batteries (saving 10%) and then pay off the balance each month. This card is not for the novice, but allows huge savings for the credit savy.
