A guest asks, "I just got a call from Riddle & Associates about a charged off account. I would like to know if anyone has ever dealt with them. The telephone # they provided was 800-225-5050. If you've dealt with them before, are they easy to settle with or are they sharks?"

Credit Expert, NightStar, replies, "http://www.searchsystems.net/freepub.php Look up for your state under collection agencies to see if they are licensed and if they have ever had problems reported. Can also check www.bbb.com to see if they have any records on them. I have not heard of this company myself, so can't say what they will likely do. Also you may be able to check the attorney generals sites for collection agency information."

Guest, TWinbrook46636, writes, "Anyone have details on BP Citibank card? Suposedly it exists but searching the web just comes up with a bunch of dead links. Perhaps it does not exist anymore?"

Reply from guest, cjtheserviveman@aol.com, "If you found any info on the bp/citibank card please let me know. it's on my credit report."

Reply from a guest, "BP is bankone not citibank"

Reply from Polonius, "First USA used to issue BP (British Petroleum) cards, but I think that was spun off to Citibank before First USA was bought by Bank One. Citibank is now offering the BP gas cards (as well as its own gas card and the Shell gas card). Check here for details and applications: http://www.applybp.com/ for the BP card, and http://www.anbcards.com/acq_index.htm for a listing of all the cards offered by Citibank. Citibank offers other BP cards--but the BP stands for Business Plus. Confusing, isn't it?"

Guest, husstang, asks, "I am currently using my first and only credit card. I have paid my entire bill every month and hopefully have a rather good credit rating. I noticed that my credit card expiration date is approaching, about six months away. My question is: what happens at the expiration date? Does my credit card company automatically send me a new card? If I want to switch to a different card at expiration from a different company should I call my card company and tell them not to renew it? I am currently using a student card and at expiration I would like to upgrade to a card with some rewards, any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated, Thank you."

Senior Member, Verne, replies, "Usually the expiration date is nothing more than a slight pause at which time the card company sends you a card with a new expiration date. Since they can change the "agreement" at any time, the expiration date means little and is used more for security reasons. You don't have to renew anything. Your contract or agreement is still just as worthless as before. You should get the new card in the mail 2 or 3 weeks before it expires."

meto answers, "This may be an excellent plan to harm yourself from 2 fronts. 1. Average of accounts. 2. Utilization of available credit. Why not keep the current card and add a new one instead?"

Review: Since the Card Processing Center took over the Spiegel Charge account I'v had nothing but trouble trying to pay my bill. All I get are late fees after late fees no matter haw soon I pay my bill. They have ignored my requests time after time about the increases that I've been charged for no reason. My bill goes up with each payment. At this rate I'll owe them forever. If I wasn't trying to keep my credit in good standing I would refuse to pay this bill.

Review: It seems at some point JCP sold there credit cards to MCCGB wiithout any notice to the consumers. I had an excellent history with JCP since 1997. When MCCGB took over, they would "temporarily close" then re-open my accoung on a monthly basis do to my credit report. I never authorized them to pull my credit report this often, in fact, it was MCCGBS inquiries that was lowering my FICO score. In some way, GECCC is the parent back for MCCGB. I have 2 accounts with GECCC that Ive never had any problems with, why is MCCGB so disorganized?

Review: This card is great if you need high spending limits and demand good customer service. American Express will stop payment to merchants if you have filed a dispute with them. I had a dispute over a return policy of one of American Experesses merchants I had done business with, and American Express refused to pay the merchant and made sure the merchant recitified the situation. This card is definitely a good choice, however all American Express cards are accepted less than say, Visa, since American Express takes a higher free from merchants.

Review: When you buy it, they tell you that you can use it wherever Master Card is accepted including renting cars, travel expenses, ...etc. When I had to go online to activate it, the agreement specifically told me that I cannot use it in person and that I am only obligated to use online or for purchases over the phone. Very bad card! There are much better ones in the market.

Review: I have been a card holder for about three months now. The customer service reps are always very friendly when I call. I was very happy to be able to get a secured card with benefits, such as auto insurance and warranty extension. I was not interested in the travel coupon, even though I never got it after my approval. Most flights in the US do not reach the price level necessary for the coupon to kick in. The only negative comment that I have is in regard to holding checks for credit line increases. Even though I send cashier checks from Bank of America, they still hold the amount for seven days. I have yet to figure that out. However, they do allow you to send a Western Union Money Gram for same day increases if necessary. The card will never become unsecured. They make no bones about it.

Review: I have had this card for almost a year now and have had no problems with using this card. I always pay my bill on time on-line and they seem to always get my payment and apply it to my account quickly. I don't have the best credit, but this company gave me a chance and I have not had any problems.

Review: This was actually my 4th or 5th credit card. They sent me an offer in the mail and it was preapproved so I said why not. I have 3 cards with $500 limits and 1 with $1000. I thought it was funny that they extended me the favor of a $300 limit. So far I have had no issues. I pay my bill online even though theres a fee. People who complain about these fees are not considering that they are being given a chance to improve their credit, the company is taking a RISK on them by giving ANYTHING. For every 1 person who pays up on time there are 100 who cant be bothered. I don't blame them a bit for having a few fees to make up for the losses. As far as what someone posted about freezes for overseas usage. This is common practice in alot of cards and banks. You should be grateful they have such a service. They monitor cards for things outside your normal soending pattern or area and block the card. SURE it can be inconvenient, but would you rather some one get your card and ruin you in 5 minutes if they DIDNT have such a thing? :) I work in the debit card industry so theres not alot I dont know about this stuff. With the amount of fraud and identity theft going on (trust me, its alot) I commend FNBM for having tis service available. Just let them know to notate your account when youre travelling. not so hard. Overall a good little card.
