mspman22 writes, Hi all. I am in the process of looking for a new CC. I currently have a Worldperks Signature Visa (NWA Miles card). But I have aquired more miles than I can use at the moment. 500K. I earn miles when I fly so I will still keep earning miles. I spend about $40K a year on the card. Mostly NWA, Marriott, and Hertz, with a spackling of misc gas stations and restraunts around the country. So I just bought a home and also love electronics. Trying to find some type of home depot, lowes, sony, etc. card that has decent rewards. Also sorry for the world's longest post. Thanks for the help.

Daniel responds, Finding a reward card is always about what you want to get out of it. Depending on your ambition perhaps take a look at the stores listed in dealpass you may be able to combine a rewards card with their program for a bonus. Home Depot last month offered 10% off. When you combine this with another rewards card the deal becomes sweet. Discover offers a 5% Platinum cashback card that works at Home Depot, Lowes and others.

dbnyc asks, I've been tossing around the idea of actually accepting one of those "play-with-fire" 0% for life Discover pre-approved offers. Anyway, usually, other pre-approved offers have a phone number or website that you can apply and very quickly get an answer. However, I've scoured all over the Discover offer, and can't seem to find any phone# or website. Does this mean it can only be done by paper/snail-mail? Has anyone applied for one of these, and how long does it really take for the snail-mail application to be processed?

CreditCardGuru answers, I don't really know, I don't much like Discover myself, after what they did to a friend. I prefer VISA and MasterCard, and now AMEX is getting to the more than one bank thing, but Discover only has one bank....I like the idea of banks competing....like the commercial on TV, when banks compete, you win!

Review: Like many of the reviewers here I never signed up for the debt cancelation, yet they say my name is signed on the form. I was ill for awhile and didn't notice the extra charge every month when I paid my Best Buy card. Then recently I noticed the debt cancelation policy and called to inquire and was given the same story, that I signed up for it and there was nothing they could do about it now. Best Buy was no help either. They are obviously in bed together. We need to get the Better Business Bureau involved with this. It is criminal. We are buying two computers this year for our kids going to college and will definitely not shop at Best Buy now or in the future.

Review: Very poor customer service. pitiful company, sneaky tactics. I really suggest not getting a sears card of any kind shape or form. Pay cash for whatever you buy. I am deeply saddened that sears has sunken to to such depths. It used to be such a good company. I AM SELLING ANY AND ALL STOCK FROM SEARS. I read that everyone is getting out of sears stock it is a bad investment. To read, goto "sears mastercard review" and search web. I used to have a 9.9% fixed interst rate and unbenounced to me they changed it to a 13.49% variable interest rate. I am opting out and closing my account with sears.

Review: We have been very good account holders with this card--we used the card a lot and carried a large balance, but we always paid our bill on time and made frequent large payments. This month, however, our APR jumped from 10.15% to 29.49%! When we called to ask why, they said that they had decided we had too much credit out. Now think about this: we had lots of credit WITH THEIR BANK that they had approved us for! So they decided to nearly triple our APR with no warning. Needless to say, we will not do business with Chase again.

Review: I have had this card for a little over a year and a half. Originally I got it for the 0% intro rate for six months which helped me out a lot. The rewards program is really good, but you can only redeem the rewards in increments of twenty. I use this card for gas and groceries so I can build up the rewards. Only had to contact CS a couple times, but both times they were very polite and helpful. The only real complaint is that it isn't accepted everywhere Visa and MC are taken. But they are trying to fix that.

Review: I have been bankrupt twice, divorced twice and could only buy a car at a 22% buy here pay here lot. Plains Commerce gave me a shot when nobody else would. They have improved my credit score, and now only after 6 months I was approved for a 9.9% card with another bank. I am 33 years old, and I have never been offered a card with less than 19%, even when I made payments on time for a year. Although it's a crunch getting that first payment out, it has been the best thing that has happened to my credit. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a job, and can pay by Money Gram. I make weekly payments, and pay off the balance each time. Just use it to pay for a few bills, or dinner out a night or two, it really works.

Worst Feature: I have to leave work early on payday to pay on the card, if I wish to use it that weekend.

Review: It took days to figure out what WFNNB stood for, and now I know why. They do it on purpose. Then you fnaly get a phone number to call after and extensive internet search. Then you can only call M-F 9-5. They have you punch in every number under the sun... to include the street address you had when you first signed up (In my case 5 years ago when I was in college, I have moved a few times since). There is no option to talk to a real person to get things straightened out. It just says - call back when you have all needed information. From THIS internet site I discovered a number for WFNNB - Alliant data systems 614 729-4000. I hope it works tomorrow. Again it is during THEIR convenient hours - not mine.

Review: Do people not remember how credit cards work? You borrow money from a bank whether it be for cash advances or purchases at your local store and you pay the bank back the money you borrowed within a certain amount of time. If you fail to do so there are of course going to be intrest and penalty fees that apply. This is no surprise by all means!!! That is why when you sign up for a credit card you should read what is called the "Card Holder Agreement." This acts as a Owners manual for your credit card. All of the fees that get applied to delinquent accounts, etc are listed in the terms & conditions in a card holder agreement. So if you don't like the interest rate on a credit card.... Don't apply for it! it's that simple! There's no surprise that is thrown into the equation anywhere. Sure it's riddiculous to pay a high interest rate & penalty fees when you are late on a payment but so is signing up for a credit card without reading all the consequences for what is considered a breech of contract when you do not abide to the terms and conditions of a credit card. Why should a bank have to eat the cost they paid to lend you money just because you can't pay them back? So before you sign your name on that dotted line ( And occasionally mark the box for a RUSH delivery ) Make sure you read your card holder agreement first. Credit cards are NOT and I repeat NOT free money.
Best Feature: They list their terms & conditions in the card holder agreement like other credit card co.

Credit Card: Target® Visa® Card

Review: I signed up for this card about 2 and a half years ago at a Target store. Over a period of about 2 years I charged and paid off around $15,000. I was never late with a payment, was never over my limit, or had any other such problems with my card. I have had a zero blanace on this card for about 6 months. Yesterday I recieved a letter from Target National Bank stating that my credit limit had been reduced to $500 and I no longer had a cash line. The reason stated was that they claimed I had a "number of recently opened accounts" on my credit report. The only problem with that is that I have real time access to my credit reports and no such activity has occured or is listed on my reports. So I just got off the phone with Target customer service and closed out the account with a zero balance. I rarely shop at Target anyway, so the 10% certificates were kind of useless. To be fair to Target I probably would have closed out the account sometime this year (I use my miles or Citi Dividend Select cards for pretty much everything now), but Target sped up the process by reducing my credit line based on fictitious reasons. Looking back, I think the only reason why I opened this account in the first place was that a really hot female Target employee was walking around signing people up for this card.
